Cape Express soccer teams begin spring season

The following are results from recent games played by Cape Express youth soccer teams:

GIRLS

U8 Cape Express Galaxy vs. Monroe Township United: The Galaxy started the spring season with a barrage of goals against the United. Maggie Staino and Fiona Hardin made great saves in goal. Peyton Bernacki, Whitney Macrina and Nora Cray held down the defensive zone. Sofia Allegre, Tenley VanArtsdalen, and Madeline Burns kept the pressure up on offense.

U9 Cape Express Mayhem vs. Mainland Stangs: Cape jumped out to an early lead against the Mainland Stangs in their season opener on the road. With goals by Alex Grier and Kate Wheeler assisted by Abbie Verity and Peyton Hunsicker, the girls ended up coming just short of a victory. Great effort in goal for the Mayhem by Libby Lloyd, Lindsay Grenfell and Alex Grier.

U11 Cape Express Sirens 1, Collingswood Bobcats 1: Despite being without a third of the team due to injuries and ski vacations, the Sirens battled Collingswood to open the season. Goalies Izzy Miller and Sophia Smith held the Bobcats offense to one goal. Maggie Farrell finally broke through late in the second half and knocked in the tying goal for Cape.
