ANTHONY ZAMPIRRI

Three players hailing from Cape May County high schools were significant contributors to a victory by the Cabrini men’s soccer team this week. Tyler Tomlin (freshman-Cabrini soccer-WHS) scored two goals, Ray Wilson (junior-Cabrini soccer-MTHS) added a goal and Anthony Zampirri (junior-Cabrini soccer-WCHS) posted the shutout in goal in a 3-0 win over Delaware Valley. Christian Rafter (junior-Cabrini soccer-MTHS) and Vince Wilson (freshman-Cabrini soccer-MTHS) also saw action in the game. Cabrini is 3-5-1 overall. …

Joe Fala (senior-Ramapo soccer-MTHS) scored twice in the Roadrunners’ 4-2 win over Western Connecticut State on Wednesday. Earlier this week, Fala was named New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goals in wins over Old Westbury and New Jersey City University. For the season, Fala has six goals and two assists through seven games. Ramapo is unbeaten through eight games (5-0-3). …

AMANDA DURBIN

Amanda Durbin (senior-Olivet Nazarene soccer-LCMR) scored a goal in the Tigers’ 8-0 win over Governors State University earlier this week. Durbin, a team captain, is tied for the team lead with three goals through seven games. Olivet Nazarene, an NAIA school in Illinois, is 5-2 overall. …

Marissa McGaffney (junior-Drew soccer-LCMR) has started all eight games for the Rangers so far this season. The defender/midfielder has recorded two assists. Drew is 3-4 overall. …

Matt Brown (sophomore-Neumann soccer-MTHS) has seen action in seven games, with six starts, and Eddie Proud (freshman-Neumann soccer-MTHS) has played in seven games, with one start, so far for the Knights. Neumann in 2-5-1 overall. …

JEN COLLINS

Jen Collins (junior-Neumann soccer-WHS) has seen action in seven games, with one start, so far this season for the Knights. Neumann is 3-5-1 following a 2-1 loss to Rutgers-Camden earlier this week. …

Will Helm (junior-Immaculata soccer-WHS) is one of three Mighty Mac players to start all nine of the team’s games so far. He sees action at fullback and defensive midfielder. Immaculata is 2-6-1 overall. …

Kevin Santiago (senior-St. Elizabeth soccer-WHS) has played in four games, with one start, so far this season. St. Elizabeth is 2-5-1 overall. …

BRIANNE NICHOLAS

Brianne Nicholas (senior-Ursinus field hockey-LCMR) has started all seven games and has recorded two goals and two assists for the Bears. Ursinus (6-1) has won six straight games after losing its opener. …

Madie Gibson (senior-Monmouth soccer-LCMR) had one of the goals in the Hawks’ 3-1 win over St. Peter’s last weekend. She has recorded two goals and two assists so far this season. Gibson was recently named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week after posting a goal and two assists in a surprising 4-0 win at No. 25 Texas earlier this month. Monmouth is 3-2-2 overall. …

BRENNAN RAY

Brennan Ray (sophomore-Montclair State football-LCMR), a linebacker, has recorded 14 tackles, good for third on the team, and one pass breakup through two games so far this season. Montclair State enters this weekend’s game at Hobart College at 1-1. …

Aaron Cottrell (sophomore-Kean football-LCMR), linebacker, has recorded two tackles through two games so far. Joe McGhee (freshman-Kean football-LCMR), a defensive lineman, is also on the Cougars’ roster. Kean is 0-2 heading into Saturday’s game at Dean College. …

Will Berger (sophomore-Rutgers cross country-LCMR) finished in 38th place out of 110 finishers with a time of 28:07.45 in the Fordham University Fiasco Invitational 8K race earlier this month. The Scarlet Knights were the team champions of the event, beating out 11 other teams. Rutgers is next in action this weekend at the Ohio State Invite. …

ABBY THOMPSON

Abby Thompson (junior-Limestone field hockey-MTHS) has scored one goal while seeing action in all five of the team’s games this season. Limstone, a Division II school in South Carolina, is 4-1 overall. …

Abdiel Richards (junior-North Carolina Central football-WHS), a defensive back and special teams player, has seen action in all four of the team’s games so far. He has recorded one tackle. North Carolina Central takes a record of 1-3 into its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener at Morgan State this Saturday at 6 p.m. The game will air on ESPN3.
