PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Caleb Fields, Senior, Guard, Wildwood Catholic
Point guard for Cape-Atlantic League champions … averaged 21.4 points per game and finished with 1,665 points for career … shot better than 80 percent on free throws … terrific defender and tremendous leader … had knack for making biggest plays in close games … led Crusaders to school record 26 victories … will play college basketball at Division I Bowling Green.
FIRST TEAM
Kyion Flanders, Senior, Guard, Wildwood
Volume scorer who finished as program’s all-time leader with 2,131 points … led Wildwood in scoring (20.6), rebounding (5.6) and assists (4.3) … shot 50.2 percent from the floor … led Warriors to share of Tri-County Classic Division title … Stockton University and Penn State-Harrisburg have shown strong interest.
Jalen Freeman, Junior, Guard, Middle Township
Averaged 17.3 points … served as team’s primary ball handler … makes mark at both ends of floor, as some observers have pegged him as best perimeter defender in Cape-Atlantic League … one of South Jersey’s top returning guards next season.
Pat Holden, Senior, Guard, Lower Cape May
One of South Jersey’s best point guards … can score from all areas of floor … finished career as program’s all-time scoring leader with 2,103 points … no player in South Jersey may have been more valuable to his team … Widener and Stockton have shown strong interest.
Josh Wright, Junior, Guard, Cape May Tech
One of South Jersey’s most dynamic scorers … averaged 22.9 points … shot 79 percent from foul line … already has 1,782 career points, putting him on pace to become first homegrown county player to reach 2,500 … colleges of all levels showing interest.
Taj Thweatt, Sophomore, Forward, Wildwood Catholic
6-5 athlete who was major factor at both ends of floor … averaged 13.0 points and 7.6 rebounds for CAL champions … improving at finishing around rim …. Good interior defender who blocked 38 shots … already attracting major college interest.
SECOND TEAM
Martin Anguelov, Freshman, Guard, Lower Cape May
Made more than 100 three-pointers … averaged better than 14 points … shot 91.4 percent on free throws.
Charles Fields, Senior, Guard, Wildwood Catholic
Averaged 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds … outstanding all-around athlete … elite perimeter defender.
Donovan Graham, Junior, Forward, Ocean City
Averaged 10.6 points and 4.7 rebounds … shot 53.6 percent from floor … posted 47 blocked shots.
Joey Sacco, Junior, Guard, Ocean City
Averaged 10.6 points, 4.7 rebounds … led team in assists (108) and steals (79) … named CAL Boo Pergament Award winner (most improved player).
Tyler Tomlin, Junior, Guard, Wildwood
Averaged 19.3 points and 4.0 rebounds … shot 42.9 percent on three-pointers (90-210) and 89.1 percent on free throws (82-92).
Jahlil White, Sophomore, Forward, Wildwood Catholic
Averaged 7.9 points … second on team in assists with 62 … huge upside … at 6-5, best position may be point guard.
